STUDENT LIFE

Library and Student Support

Research and Writing Center

In the world of technology, students must have a variety of skills to assist them in their research. The Saint James School library serves grades 6-12 and houses a collection of over 13,000 physical and digital books, periodicals, and other media.

Instruction is provided by the librarian to assist students in the development of research skills, correct MLA formatting, and other academic integrity competencies including the avoidance of plagiarism and the ability to analyze online sources for accuracy and dependability. Online databases, the Alabama Virtual Library, citation guides, digital reading materials, and the library online catalog may be found in onCampus, our learning management system. Students are encouraged to use the library as a resource for materials, environment for pleasure reading, and as an inviting place for study.

The library also houses the school’s college-style writing and tutoring center. These free services are available for any middle school or high school student seeking proofreading, citation help, or assistance with writing at any stage of the process. In-person and virtual appointments are available from peer tutors and the librarian.
